Monastic Family of Bethlehem, of the Assumption of the Virgin, and of Saint Bruno
The monks and nuns of the Family of Bethlehem, of the Assumption of the Virgin, and of Saint Bruno, receive the same call to live in the desert, as disciples of Christ and his Gospel, with the Virgin Mary and Saint Bruno. Together, they constitute a single monastic Family within the Church, two distinct branches of the same religious institute recognized by pontifical right on October 6, 1998.
The government of monks and the government of nuns are distinct.
In 2024, the Bethlehem Family includes 29 monasteries of nuns spread across 15 countries in Europe, the Americas, and the Holy Land, and three monasteries of monks located in France, Italy, and the Holy Land, respectively.
